Once strike has been replicated on a Regulating Rack, a Grandwork String Height Gauge or Underlevel (formerly String Height Gauge Lite) records the results. Since the samples that set up strike will be erased by regulating, this record can save a trip back to the piano. Sharpie ink can be erased with alcohol to use the plunger over and over. But a permanently marked plunger, kept on file, can significantly speed up the next regulation for that piano.
Grandwork tools and protocols allow all piano technicians to succeed at grand regulating, guiding beginning technicians and empowering experienced technicians.
