C8 key sticks have extra mass due to their width. Often, they are weighted behind the balance rail to compensate, but a better solution is to remove some of the excess mass in front of the balance rail. This tool is used with your router table and pattern bit to accomplish this operation. The modification will reduce the key's front weight by around 2.0—2.5 g.
